Milton Keynes expedition

It is supposed to be one mile from the canal into the Midsummer Place Shopping Centre, but by the time we had zig-zagged around all the paths it seemed to be much, much further. I’m glad I took Bottle with me as I could quite easily have got lost in such a vast place as this.

IMG 0076 weighs 4 tonnes,16mtres long,2 yrs to build

IMG_0075 designed by Kit Williams installed 2002

This is the Time Machine that was designed by Kit Williams an artist with ingenuity in invention, producing unique pieces of art. The golden balls emerge from the Sun to travel along the 16 metre gantry on the pendulum wheel to be delivered into a huge clock cabinet, on top of which sits a giant frog. The clock took two years to make, weighs four tonnes, and was installed here in 2002. Every hour a tune plays as the frog opens his mouth to blow bubbles for the children to catch. We have seen a similar clock also designed by him in the Regents Arcade in Cheltenham which features a huge bubble-blowing wooden fish, true craftsmanship.

IMG_0077 Oak Court concrete cows

IMG_0073 resident spider                                                                                                   The famous concrete cows have come to Oak Court on loan for a while. They are under the Oak tree in a large circular space which is open to the elements inside the shopping complex. This is Winston our resident spider who lives on the front of our boat catching quite a few flies. he is a very determined soul and has had to re-build his web several times between the tunnel light and cratch window!
