Lovely weather for ducks.

As forecast it has rained steadily here all day at Aylestone and is still blowing a hooley. However this has not seemed to affect the joggers and walkers from splashing through all the puddles that have formed on the towpath. Next to Kings Lock there is a nice little tea shop in the old lock cottage. Just below this the canal runs into the River Soar which has a beautiful old 15th century Packhorse Bridge with eight low rustic stone arches crossing it. We are near a large nature reserve with many way marked pathways. Although ducks don’t mind getting wet there seems to be a lack of them around today!

Well we have spent the day reading, watching the moto gp and baking boat cakes. May be tempted to have a cheese and wine party this evening as we haven’t ventured out today. Sorry Dave, no pictures for you to peruse tonight.
