Well, the winter woollies are on, off, then on again as we have some cold wet wintery days interspersed with really hot sunny days, it’s madness. We had dark skies as we set off down Offerton Locks, but luckily it didn’t rain on us. I have had a really painful shoulder so I was taking things very slow and easy not to make it any worse. We met several boats on their way up and one who had stopped on the lock moorings having their breakfast! We forgave them though because they did get out to open the top gate for us to glide in.

We passed under several bridges that had undergone some extensive repairs to their arched brickwork.

IMG_0766 Swans youngThese swans were proudly teaching their signets how to fend for themselves. After ten locks we pulled over to moor in a nice open spot and settled down for a well deserved drink and  dinner later in the evening. Saturday was spent lazing around and having a bit of a rest reading books etc.

On Sunday we took the boat down four locks to fill with water in Diglis Basin then back up two locks to stay by Lowesmoor. From here it was a short walk to the new Asda which is in a new shopping centre where work is still in progress. Should be a good facility for boaters in the future.

IMG_0783 new shop centre worcsMonday we spent a lovely day with our daughter and grandson who came up for a visit. After coffee we took them for their first trip on Oakfield when we went up to turn the boat around . Then we walked off into Worcester to find some lunch and peruse the shops. As our grandson was in a good mood the opportunity was taken to get his hair cut by a very friendly young girl.

IMG_0784Back on the boat we spent a lovely afternoon chatting and playing trains etc before teatime, then it was time for them to go home. We learnt later that he slept all the way back in the car after such a busy day.
